About Dan

Daniel DeWoskin, the founder of DeWoskin Law Firm, LLC, has been practicing law since 2002.  He is a graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law and completed his undergraduate degrees in Communication Studies and Classics at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina.

Dan is a past president of the DeKalb Bar Association, Past President of the Decatur Rotary Club, a previous board member of the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, and the former chair of the DeKalb Board of Ethics. During the 2020 legislative session in Georgia, Dan will serve as “Criminal Defense Lawyer of the Week,” helping to advocate for sound, responsible policy and law. Additionally, Dan continues to serve DeKalb County and the Atlanta metro area through a host of leadership positions and volunteer work. He is an active member in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA), the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL), the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA), and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He has graduated from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer’s College, and from Leadership DeKalb. Since 2012, Dan has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Super Lawyer. Dan also teaches trial skills at the Emory University School of Law and The Paideia School in Atlanta. Even before law school, Dan had a strong interest in serving his community. He was trained by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) as a law enforcement officer, and continues to maintain his certification. He also spent time volunteering as a Fulton County Deputy Sheriff. This experience as a law enforcement officer helps Dan fully understand the criminal justice system, while most attorneys have only experienced it through secondhand reports or client testimonials. For the DeWoskin Law Firm, Dan handles all case types, specializing in personal injury, criminal defense, and consumer debt defense.

About Alex

Alex Merritt is a partner at the DeWoskin Law Firm. He joined the firm in 2015 after four years prosecuting felony cases on behalf of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office. As a trial attorney in the D.A.’s Office, Alex prosecuted hundreds of felony cases, including murders, armed robberies, child molestations, domestic violence cases, and drug trafficking cases, among others.

Prior to working in the D.A.’s Office, Alex worked as an associate attorney at the private law firm Jones & Walden, where he focused his practice on bankruptcy and debtor-creditor litigation. Alex is an active member of the DeKalb Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He volunteers his time in DeKalb County, training students to become skilled attorneys. To that end, Alex has volunteered as a faculty member at the Emory University School of Law Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques, as a coach for the Decatur High School mock trial team, and as a judge at the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition held annually at the DeKalb County Courthouse.   Alex earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

About Sam

Sam Han is Special Counsel for the firm, with much of his time spent on strategizing and writing. Sam is the firm's walking resource on Rules (e.g., Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Evidence, Rules of Professional Conduct, etc.).

Sam has practiced before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the State of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Sam is also licensed to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to becoming an attorney, Sam taught surgery to students in the WPI Biomedical Engineering, UMass Medical, Tufts Veterinary programs while concurrently conducting research on strokes, tumors, and ligaments using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). Sam also served as a law professor at the University of Dayton and Indiana Tech. In addition to being a research scientist, electrical engineer, and biomedical engineer, Sam is a chess player, a close-up magician, a pianist, a guitarist, rower, tennis player, and a motorcyclist.

About Honey

Honey Shaw is an associate attorney at the DeWoskin Law Firm. Honey earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law. Honey spent much of her time at Georgia State in the Philip C. Cook Low Income Tax Clinic representing indigent clients facing tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service. She settled four cases and assisted on many others.

Honey was a 2018-2019 Urban Fellow with the College of Law’s Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth. She also worked as a registered neutral in the GSU Landlord-Tenant Mediation Clinic. Honey is especially proud of her work assisting her peers as a graduate research assistant for three semesters and as a student associate for Lexis. Honey held a position as a Law Clerk to Edgar L. Crossett, III, Esq. for more than two years while she attended law school. Her work with Mr. Crossett prompted her to continue her work in personal injury litigation. Prior to earning her law degree, Honey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at the University of Georgia. When she is not working, Honey enjoys pickling vegetables, walking her dogs, and watching rugby.

About Amanda

Amanda joined the DeWoskin Law Firm in 2019 as a paralegal. Amanda manages the firm’s personal injury cases and handles many of the administrative aspects of client representation, including collecting and organizing medical records, negotiating liens with medical providers, drafting pleadings and discovery, and maintaining a close working relationship with clients.

About Michelle

Michelle has been with the DeWoskin Law Firm since 2015. She is the office manager and legal assistant for the firm, having many years of experience working with attorneys and law firms in the metro Atlanta area. Her background covers areas such as general practice, plaintiff’s personal injury, criminal defense, debt collection/consumer debt matters, and bankruptcy.
